The ASPCA Forensic Services team assisted Alachua County Animal Services in Florida collecting forensic evidence of nearly 700 cats found living in deplorable conditions at the Haven Acres Cat ‘Sanctuary’. The animals were rescued as the result of an ongoing investigation led by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and Alachua County Animal Services.

The HSUS and UAN (United Animal Nations) will provide ongoing, daily care for the animals until their custody is decided in an upcoming disposition hearing. Other groups assisting include The Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program at the University of Florida (on-scene and continued medical treatment) and PetSmart Charities (donations of food and much-needed supplies).    (read more)
